Unfortunately, not every PC game runs on a Mac. You’ll have to sort through the library of games natively compatible with your new system.
Fortunately, we’ve got a list right here of PC games for Mac worth trying out. Read our list below and discover a game that’s right up your alley:
1. Stardew Valley
Table of Contents
Let’s start off this list of great PC games for Mac with a title made primarily by one man: Stardew Valley. The game is often referred to as a farming simulator but it goes far beyond that. You also have to spend time befriending your neighbors, mining, fighting monsters, and raising animals or fishing!
If you’ve ever played a Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons game, you’ll feel right at home with Stardew Valley. It’s the type of game to play on your Mac when you want to sit back and relax.
Did you know that as many 350 million people play Fortnite? It may not be as popular now as it was a year ago but it’s still one of the most popular online battle royales in the world. It’s so popular that it even got featured in the movie Avengers: Endgame.
In the game, you drop down on an island with 99 other people. The goal is to take each one out until you’re the last one left. You’ll also have to learn how to craft a fort (hence the title) to keep you safe from the other players.
There are a few alternatives, such as Apex Legends, but they don’t natively run on Macs. You’ll need to emulate Windows to make PC games work on Mac.
Games For Mac
If there’s any game on this list more popular than Fortnite, it’s Minecraft. The game seems so simple in theory: you can mine and build anything. The world of Minecraft is an open sandbox and it’s up to you to build what you want.
The survival mode adds a few obstacles. Monsters appear at night, you have to deal with hunger, and you don’t have every crafting material from the beginning. It’s all about finding the materials you need, surviving, and building with what you get.
Creative mode is the more fun option! This mode is great for people who simply want to build without worrying about dying or fighting monsters.
4. Disco Elysium
Are you a fan of classic western RPGs like Baldur’s Gate or Shadowrun? Disco Elysium takes the isometric perspective of those games, as well as the heavy emphasis on roleplaying and dialogue, but completely eliminates the need for combat.
You play the role of a detective in the game and there’s a strong emphasis on digging for information and conversing with people in the city. The goal is to recover your memory and solve a murder mystery.
If you want to play PC games on Mac for a long while, this is one title to consider. It’s a slow burn but it’s worth the journey! With so many different ways to build your character, you could replay this game multiple times and still find something new each time.
5. Dead Cells

Speaking of something new, you shouldn’t ignore the beauty of Dead Cells when looking for the best PC and Mac games.
Dead Cells is a 2D platformer and in essence, is a type of Metroidvania. This means you’ll have to go across an open-map to find upgrades and gather resources to buy better gear and move on.
However, it’s also a roguelike game. This means you lose all your gear and minor upgrades when you die. You still get to keep the major upgrades, if you managed to purchase them before dying.
6. Civilization 6
If platformers and crafting games aren’t to your liking, you may want to give a game like Civilization a look. This game lets you roleplay a major historical leader, such as Cleopatra, and then you have to run a whole civilization to either a prosperous future or its utter downfall.
There’s a lot of micromanagement involved with games like Civilization 6. You’ll have to keep track of trade, partnerships with other nations, and your military strength. You’ll need to learn when to forge alliances, when to conquer, and when to stay out of another nation’s path.

Going back to the isometric games inspired by pen and paper tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons, you should also consider picking up Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Like Baldur’s Gate or Icewind Dale, this game allows you to create a character and go on an epic fantasy adventure.
The game is a massive step-up from its predecessor. The developers improved the graphics, combat, and roleplaying mechanics. This game is also much more expansive, allowing you to take a ship and travel across the archipelago.
For fans of Dungeons and Dragons, you can also build a party consisting of the Vox Machina characters, fully voiced by their official Critical Role actors.
